ADULT EDUCATION and the IMPERATIVE TO CONTROL
A study of the sources, characteristics, and the exercise of power and control in adult education enterprises in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries with special reference to the County of Surrey.

The main focuses of this study:

1) centred on notions of Power and led to a heuristic model of power relations.










2) was a comprehensive history of adult education in Surrey: a description of its constituent institutions and a collection of un-researched data which included books and papers in the libraries of Institutions and providers of education for adults in  general.
